TCM Security is a well-regarded cybersecurity training provider in the United States, though it remains relatively unknown here in New Zealand. Founded by Heath Adams, also known as The Cyber Mentor, TCM Security offers a range of certifications and practical courses in ethical hacking and related disciplines.
I first came across TCM Security Academy during an overseas deployment when a manager gave me a voucher for the Practical Ethical Hacking course. Isolated in a hotel room due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I began the course with low expectations, but was quickly impressed by how engaging and accessible the content was.
Since then, I’ve completed multiple courses and certifications through TCM Security, including:
- Practical Junior Penetration Tester (PJPT)
- Practical Ethical Hacking
- Windows Privilege Escalation for Beginners
- Linux Privilege Escalation for Beginners
- Practical Bug Bounty
These courses stand out for their hands-on approach and include lab environments where learners can safely practise ethical hacking tools and techniques. If you’re someone who prefers practical learning over theory-heavy slideshows, I highly recommend exploring what TCM Security has to offer.
Some course content is freely available on The Cyber Mentor’s YouTube channel, and there are often discounts shared via TCM’s YouTube and Discord communities. In addition, a 20% discount is available for military personnel, veterans, students, educators, and first responders—applicable to certification vouchers with or without the associated training.
